Short-notice staffing should not depend on who you know

Filling a gap in the rota still usually means a chain of phone calls and WhatsApp groups, with little way to confirm that the person arriving is registered, current and who they say they are. Health workers, in turn, have no easy way to show their credentials once and be trusted everywhere.

MedSkift fills that gap. Every health worker’s identity and licence and every employer’s registration is checked, rates are shown before anyone applies, and a booking is a clear record for both sides. Employers pay a flat US$3 per booked shift; health workers pay nothing.

We are starting in Zimbabwe, and the platform is built so that professions, regulators and documents can be set up for other countries later.

What MedSkift does

A marketplace with verification at the centre. We are not an employer or an agency: the employer books and pays the health worker directly.

Checks identity. An ID document and a live selfie through our partner Didit, for health workers and for the owner of every employer account.
Checks registration. Council registration and a current practising certificate, reviewed by our team, with expiry dates tracked.
Checks employers. Business registration and facility licence for organizations; families verify their identity.
Keeps it open. The rate, hours and location are on every shift before anyone applies.
Keeps it simple. Free for health workers. Employers pay US$3 per booked shift from prepaid credit, with no subscription.
